Homemade Pesto Sauce

  • 2 cups of fresh basil leaves (no stems)

  • 2 tablespoons of pine nuts

  • 2 large cloves of garlic

  • 1/2 cup avocado or olive oil

  • 1/2 cup of mozzarella cheese, shredded


  1. Combine basil leaves, pine nuts, and garlic in a food processor or blender. Process or blend until finely minced.

  2. With the machine running on low, add in the oil and process until the mixture is smooth.

  3. Add the mozzarella cheese and process very briefly, just long enough to combine smoothly. Stop the blender to stir as needed.

  4. Refrigerate or freeze in an airtight container.

  5. Enjoy!
